I (Seth) had my ordination council last night. That’s where other pastors/deacons get together and grill you on your theology, etc, to make sure that you won’t be teaching people heresy or living a lie while you’re leading churches. I’ve been afraid of it for years, but it actually wasn’t bad. Sure, there were some tough questions. But the focus was not on the tiny details of hotly debated theological issues – it was on the major issues – and how I live them out. I passed. I guess that means I’m orthodox. Anyway, it means that next Sunday night I’m going to get a new Bible, a piece of paper that says I’m officially “ordained” and people will pray for me. I think that’s cool.
