This Sunday was Youghal’s annual Medieval Festival, in the authentically medieval Collegiate Garden, beside the medieval town walls. Despite dire predictions, we actually had a nice day for it apart from one pop up shower. Our ‘Book of Kells Photo Booth’ was back again, but slightly different: in the past, we had picture boards you could stick your face in and we would snap a photo and print it off right there, but this year we provided lots of costumes and props and a nice backdrop for folks to take their own photos on their cameras and phones. We also had a lady from church who is an amazing hair stylist braiding hair for free. It was a big success, lots of fun, and we also got to give away quite a few gospels (after all, that’s what the Book of Kells is – a medieval copy of the gospels!). We’re already looking forward to next year!
