This week we had a bank holiday on Monday, which means it’s a day off for most folks. While America has a reason for every holiday, Ireland is happy to give days off just for the sake of it. That said, some of the holidays here do have specific reasons. Here’s a list of the nine public holidays in Ireland:

New Year’s Day (1 January)
St. Patrick’s Day (17 March)
Easter Monday
First Monday in May, June, August
Last Monday in October
Christmas Day (25 December)
St. Stephen’s Day (26 December)
