St. Patrick’s Day is a national holiday, and lots of people enjoyed the parade in Youghal this year despite the fact that the day was a bit soft (it was raining, but not enough to call it rain). We also enjoyed our annual church walk in a nearby forest. Here’s a few random facts about St. Patrick’s day in Ireland:

1. There are no Lucky Charms here. None.

2. Not everyone wears green, and no one gets pinched. No one even thinks of it.

3. ‘Patty’ is a girl’s name. If you want to shorten Patrick, use ‘Paddy’.

4. St. Patrick wasn’t actually Irish. Look up his story, it’s pretty amazing.
