This is a poem Seth wrote a couple of years ago that expresses a truth we are often reminded of: Jesus meant it when he said in John 15 that “apart from me you can do nothing”

Nothing happens
Nothing moves
On my own
Nothing loves
To mock me for the nothing I can do

All me effort
All my tears
On my own
Confirm my fears
That in the end it all adds up to nothing

You told me there was nothing I could do
But then You grafted my branch into You

And something happened…

Something different
Something deep
Here in You
I couldn’t keep
This life from slowly taking over me

Now Your life blood
In my veins
Here in You
Removes my stains
And overflowing out of me is… something

On my own there was nothing I could do
Until You grafted my branch into You

And something happened
